Curriculum Intent
Mathematics helps to form a foundation for understanding the world. At St Lawrence C of E Primary, we strive for all children to develop a thirst and enthusiasm for learning mathematics. The key elements and principles of mathematics support many other curriculum subjects including science, art and design, geography, computing, and design and technology. We aim to develop a curiosity and sense of enjoyment of the subject. We use White Rose Education schemes to scaffold our learning with fluency, reasoning and problem solving being at the heart of the scheme. We know that strong mathematical foundations support effective problem-solving skills. We aim for our pupils to be confident in applying mathematics principles to be able to reason and explain.
